Football Fans On Standing Or Sitting Impasse

Over a period of time, the football facilities and infrastructures have changed though the mindset of the fans remains the same for generations. The new stadiums are next to perfection with playing surfaces resembling a snooker table, and the golden era of mud and grass playfield have become extinct. Needless to say, the skills of the players have improved dramatically thanks to their fitness regime that makes the game far more exciting and nail biting during the modern days. The stadiums have been technologically improvised to offer a better view of the game.

Another major issue that hogs football fans who visit stadiums to experience a match is whether to stand or sit. While most fans watch the match standing, though against the law, there are serious anti-social observations, cited researchers. Despite the law states that fans have to be seated during a match, the risk lies when a greater number of spectators decide to watch the match standing. While smaller crowd preferring to stand could be dealt but if most of the spectators prefer to sit this could encourage fellow supporters also to follow suit.

Often during matches it happens that fans waste time locating their seats and half the time end up seated on the wrong seats leading to confusion. In most cases, the fans are not seated even though when it is rightfully theirs and jump up on every given occasion. It has become the unwritten code while watching any match that you have to stand up all the time whether a goal has been hit or missed.

What Is The Motivation Behind Owning A Football Club?

The most popular game in the world football does have a huge fan following. The reputation of the game has given rise to gigantic number of leagues and football clubs that are bourgeoning by the day. Football clubs are not new to UK. It is not easy to own a football club and it requires a certain amount of status in the society informs Dan Jones of Manchester who is the lead partner of Sports Business Group of New York based Deloitte Consulting. Earlier, in England football clubs were owned by businessman related to football or dealing with football products. For instance, the Liverpool Football Club was owned by Moores Family that ran the Littlewoods Football Pools Company.

Meanwhile the Manchester United was owned by a brewer, then by a textile manufacturer and butcher. The reason businessmen are related to football clubs is to gain contacts. But with the huge financial commitment with player salaries increasing drastically in the recent years, businessmen realized the need for running the club successfully. For the smooth functioning of the club, assets are being purchased that are directed to make revenue for the club. The value of a club increases as the football club performs well and stays on the top. With greater performance the value of the club increases.

Accommodating Disabled Fans is a Challenge

Football has transformed into a global game, and the support of millions has made this game a money spinner. Fans experiences are not the same for all. The experience of disabled fans varies from normal fans. Disabled fans are left disappointed during the game. Poor conditions at the football ground have made fans unable to attend the match. Disability access is not available in most grounds that make it a nightmare for disabled fans. Despite various forms of disability being fought at the football ground, the rights of disabled are yet to be upheld.

Some of the facilities that football stadiums lack include discriminatory ticketing policies, lack of disabled car parking and toilet facilities, poor sight line and insensitivity to sit with similar fans. Despite efforts being taken in this direction, there is still lot left. All this is left to more support from fans to get the message on the top of the agenda and allow the disabled to experience equality similar to other fans. In order to promote this awareness, there are support groups on Twitter and Facebook, which fans can avail for this cause.

Weeks of Action 2015 campaign helps to get involved in promoting awareness on expanding the facilities for disabled fans. This campaign aims at providing special facilities to the disabled at the stadium to make their match watching experience fun and relishing. Give them a new lease of life by bringing them the football stadium to experience the real fun of watching the match in the open.

Football Fans And Political Manifestos

Football fans should be given the privilege to participate in the reforms of the game. The game is nothing without fans, and hence they should be given the opportunity to take part in the policy decisions of the game including ticket prices, safety, ownership, and diversity. Political parties that have no inclination to the game have increased their support for the sport. Some of the party manifesto includes welfare schemes for the sport and the manifestos of various parties are highlighted. The Conservative party manifesto has it that the Community Sports facilities will be improved. The party manifesto states that it will work with local football associations and premier leagues to fund artificial pitches in 30 cities across England. It also committed to increasing the number of women in national sports governing bodies by 25% by 2017.

The Labor Party, on the other hand, has it that the football is more than business as it is related to the emotions of the people. The party says that it will include fans to be part of the clubs by giving supporters the accreditation to appoint or remove two of the directors of a club. Also, 5% of the television rights income will go to funding grassroots. The Green Party has it that employees be granted legal rights to buy their companies. The Liberal Democrats has it that safe standing areas be introduced. Also, enact laws to make homophobic chanting a criminal offense. Also, encourage fans to take part in the reform of football governance. Football supporters welcome the idea of strengthening fans voice in decision making.
